Freedom Family Counseling (714)589-2433

My Story                                                                                                                       Brandon Pendergraft,  Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (714)589-2433

I love people, I love being a therapist, I have a compassionate heart, and have an extremely difficult time watching others suffer.  I saw so many people around me suffering with mental illness, addiction, anger issues, emotional dysfunction, divorce, bad parenting, shame, loss, social anxiety, panic attacks, depression, you name it, and knew there had to be a way to help people along with myself out of all of this suffering.

So, after many years of study in psychology I worked towards and received an AA in psychology, & a BS in psychology, as well as an MS in Marriage and Family Therapy, and finally became licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist.  I have accrued thousands of hours of experience as a therapist counseling patients, and consultation with experts in the field of psychology and psychoanalysis. Through the work that I have done in psychology, personally and as a therapist, I am proud to say that I have helped many people achieve freedom in their lives.

I love being a therapist and of the few things I am certain of in life, my passion for being a therapist, helping people through emotional struggles, and achieve freedom makes me feel more alive than just about anything else.  I once heard an interview with Laird Hamilton, a famous big wave surfer, talking about potentially the most difficult wave ever ridden, where he said in a nutshell that every fiber of his being was certain, knowing that this was his purpose on earth.  For me, it is very similar, every fiber of my being is certain that being a therapist, helping people to achieve a life worth living, is my purpose on earth.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist by the state of California, and I have started a private psychotherapy practice, Freedom Family Counseling, Inc.  I have the privilege as a therapist of creating lasting freedom and change in people’s lives, and there is no better job.  Being a therapist is my full time job, and is the only job I can see myself doing as long as there are those that choose me as their therapist.  I am also devoted to continuing education in the field of psychology, mentoring and supervising therapist interns and trainees, and providing pro bono or low fee work for those that can’t afford therapy.
